A time to reinvent yourself

Tue May 26, 2009, 3:30 PM
I just finished uploading 1 year worth of work! About 30 renderings in total. I thank God for the work he's given me and the talent to perform it. My style has gone through some dramatic changes. I am no longer preoccupied on achieving photorealistic images but rather try to focus on the details that will allow the project to be built. Materials, details, building feasibility, costs and other aspects that I was oblivious to in the past have now taken a front row seat in my design priorities. Yes it’s been a weird year. The economy is bad but you know what...its times like these that we have time to look at our work and take it as an opportunity to reinvent yourself artistically. Thanks to all for your kind comments and for inspiring me through your work.

1 year later

Well it's been about a year since my last submission. First of, new job and second really busy. It's been worth the wait though. I was in a weird place about a year ago. I've seen my work progress in design quality this last year. My new job with Hermes Architects has had a lot to do with my artistic growth. I'm surrounded by some really talented people. Also the quality of human treatment and appreciation is a great motivator. Hope you enjoy the last line of renderings since my last one "Bella Terra". See you guys soon when I submit more work.

Blood sweat and ink

You see it in the news all the time. People exceeding their human abilities when put under severe distress. Well I got to the point to where I thought I might even have to change my career from architecture to music, law, or some other random field. Post Oak Plaza is a retail center we are remodeling here at Levinson Associates. The center is dead in the middle of the Galleria Area.

The client was looking for something that was beyond the typical cookie-cutter retail center you see all along Richmond and other suburban areas. I did maybe 2 alternatives that were preceded by countless sketches done on my spare time. The dreaded phrase came upon in the last meeting with the client "I hate it". Words that hit my self esteem with a sledgehammer.

I came in this weekend and put in a full 8hr. day. Blasted the music on my comp and un-hooked the phone. Finally it came to me. A new design, fresh in style, high-end, minimal yet sophisticated. My feature deviation shows what can be done under severe pressure and a "Get rich or die tryin’" attitude.

Its been 2 years now

Well it’s been two years now since my new beginning in Houston. A lot has happened since both good and bad. Then again the bad only makes you stronger in the end. Things tend to work themselves out; all you need is a little faith and patience. Lets see what this year brings, or what's left of it.

My new goal is to get my Architectural Illustration Business started. First I will need a nifty Web Site. I had referred some clients to this page but I think they freak out when they see a bunch of smileys and smooches all over the page. Let me know if any of you are any good at Web designing and we can talk about some $$ of course. See you guys around!

Life in Houston

Mon Sep 27, 2004, 8:46 AM
Its been 4 weeks since my long awaited arrival to Houston and life couldn't get any better. Finished my two year contract with Grupo Roble in El Salvador and the mall I helped design will open its doors in November.

I had a great BBQ welcoming party from my Houston friends (I'll be sure to post some pics in my scrap book) and started working on various projects almost immediately. Projects include:

-Mexican Restaurant Logo Design
-Mexican Restaurant Architectural Design
-A couple of architectural renderings
-Bar Design: Joya Bar

All this while on my job hunt which I hope will end in this one firm I've had my eye on for months. Life is good right now.
